FAQs

We work with both.

We provide organisations a range of coaching options for their leaders and managers, where we are able to work with both the individual needs of the client (or coachee), and also the needs of their employer.

Many of our clients engage us independently to their organisation as private clients, but we also work with organisations.

Coaching conversations are between you and your coach, and are confidential. This includes any notes taken by your coach in the session for the purposes of recall in later sessions.

It varies. We typically work with clients over a three month engagement.

We also have clients who opt for a very brief engagement, for example two coaching sessions to prepare for a difficult conversation with an employee.

We also have others who are focused on one goal, achieve it, and then start to work on another, and so extend the coaching engagement.

The time frame really just depends factors such as the scope of the situation, your goals, your readiness and commitment to change, and your preparedness for work and practice.

We recommend we meet at least every fortnight*. Our experience has found that in terms achieving of change, this time frame offers optimum time for reflection, and application of learning (and practice!) between sessions, while keeping the session work front of mind.

*fortnightly is recommended, however this is open to change according to individual needs.

You can end the engagement at anytime you wish.

You may wish to conclude your coaching with a final session that focuses on review and getting closure on the coaching process, in which case, it would be helpful for your coach to have prior notice in order to prepare.

While every coaching experience is different, we typically follow the same high-level framework and process.

Step 1 is to Clarify and Understand Your Goals

The first step in our process is meeting with your coach to clarify your situation, your initial goals and explore why there is a need for change. Any information and assessments gathered prior to this meeting informs preparation within the session.

Step 2 is about Understanding your situation the Current State of Play

After clarifying your situation, the second step of the process is to explore and understand the current state of play for you and its impact; learning more about you as a manager, your goals and the issue surrounding it and what is holding you back.

Step 3 revolves around Change and Developing Your Plan

Your coach will work with you to refine your goals, and crystallise your vision of success. Together you will identify roadblocks that might get in the way and create a plan to reach those goals and realise the change you are after. Your coach will ensure you have the tools needed to act and implement your plan, in a safe and supported way.

Step 4 is all about Action and Keeping you Focused

The fourth and final step of the process are Check-in’s with your coach to discuss your progress as you move toward achieving your goals. Your coach will hold you accountable to your goals, and give you the expert advice needed to stay on track and overcome any obstacles or barriers that have arisen along the journey.

We know coaching is not for everyone. However coaching may be ideal for you if:

  • you are motivated and prepared to invest time and energy into your development and growth
  • have a specific change need, for example, your personal performance is under question, or are required to deal with a new situation, or you are faced with a situation beyond your skills and confidence
  • you are wanting to prioritise and modernise your performance management and leadership practice
  • you are open to change and new ideas and ways of doing things
  • you are ready to receive and take onboard feedback, are you ready to be challenged
  • you are prepared for a little hard work and practice
  • an important conversation with an employee about performance or behaviour
  • change within the organisation such as new ways of work
  • leadership development
  • clarifying and organising priorities and plans
  • a challenging key relationship within their team
  • moving into a new management position or organisation

In between sessions there may be specific actions for you to complete that support the achievement of your goals.

Your coach may provide you resources such as readings, tools and assessments to support thinking and performance.
